Dale Laflin Kelly

Dale Laflin Kelly, 72, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, October 8, 2023. She was born November 25, 1950, in Spartanburg SC to the late Oliver E. Laflin, II and Virl Brown Laflin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gay Laflin Moody, longtime friend and former husband, Charles E. Kelly; and her husband, Raymond W. Kelly, who was the love of her life. 

Dale is survived by nieces, Meredith Moody Heffner of Moore, SC and Marla Moody Kuhne (Trey) of Boiling Springs, SC; great-nephew, TJ Heffner of Easley, SC; great-nieces, Amanda Heffner and Alexis Heffner, both of Columbia, SC; extended family, Gloria Tipton Moody and Sandra Tipton Nash, both of Columbus, NC; and steadfast friend, KayLynn Cobb of Spartanburg, SC. 

From early childhood, Dale possessed a tender heart and a great love for all animals. No creature, even the smallest, ever crossed her path that wasn’t welcomed, cared for, and loved. 

Dale retired from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) after 30 years of service.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. 

Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; Animal Allies, 820 Gossett Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or to the charity of one’s choice. 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
