Betty Jo Blackwell Charak, 95, of Greer, died Monday, September 11, 2023, at her home. A native of Spartanburg, she was born on September 11, 1928, a daughter of the late Furman and Grace Steadman Blackwell and the wife of the late Dexter H. Charak.
She was a former resident of New York City and Orlando, FL, and a member of the Episcopal Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Liz Charak (Michelle Nichols) of Greer; nephew, Rob Craig of New Market, MD; niece, Hailey Craig, of Frederick, MD; and many beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Blackwell Craig.
A private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607.
