Ardeth Estelle Eberhardt Denler, 92, of Spartanburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at her home. She was born on January 16, 1931, in Mountain View, CA, a daughter of the late Jacob and Maude Larson Eberhardt. She was married to Arnold Leo Denler, Jr., M.D. for more than 60 years.
Ardeth was a member of the Spartanburg Seventh-day Adventist Church and had worked in Elementary Education as a school teacher.
She was an avid cross stitch and needlepoint artist and enjoyed working outdoors with her flowers. She loved to hike and travel; visiting state and national parks were among her favorites. She was an extremely loyal Atlanta Braves fan and a NASCAR enthusiast, pulling for Richard Petty in particular. Her cooking and hostess skills were enjoyed by many. She taught Kindergarten and Primary classes nearly every Sabbath for decades and loved the children she ministered to.
Along with her husband, Ardeth is survived by her son, Daniel P. Denler (Tressy) of Spartanburg; her daughters, Lucille Steiner (Martin) of Fletcher, NC, and Kathleen Chandler (Steven) of Spartanburg; her 4 grandchildren, Danielle Rucker (Aaron), Kayla Chandler, Cole Chandler and Jake Steiner; her two great-grandchildren, Jathan and Levi Rucker; her sister, Arlene Mussato of Sandpoint, ID; and her brother, Max Eberhardt of Sandpoint, ID. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Hancock; and her siblings, Ivenette Silvera, Merlin Eberhardt, Myron Eberhardt and Ron Eberhardt.
The family will be receiving quests on Sabbath, November 11, 2023 immediately following the church service. Please come share your memories and love for Ardeth Denler with her family in the Kindergarten Sabbath School room where she taught for 41 years. Many adults who were children in the 70’s through 2011 will remember her teaching of Jesus’ love through her creative use of felts and unique object lessons to illustrate the lesson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canvasback Missions, Inc. canvasback.org , 940 Adams Street, Suite R, Benicia, CA 94510.
