Albert Eugene “Dickie” Harvey, Jr., 71, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born on December 27, 1951, a son of the late Albert Eugene Harvey, Sr. and Virginia Tweed Harvey. Dickie was married to Vickie Turner Harvey for the past 45 years.
A graduate of Dorman High School, he attended the University of SC-Spartanburg. Dickie was a longtime chef and caterer in Spartanburg and Rock Hill. He also enjoyed his time working with MusiCraft.
Dickie was a true Renaissance man with many varied interests, including classical music, reading and wood working. He was associated with Trinity United Methodist Church and was a valued contributor to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
Along with his wife, Vickie, he is survived by his daughter, Perry Lee Harvey of Spartanburg; his sons, Michael Tweed Harvey (Martha) of Tampa, FL and Joseph Allen Harvey (Julie) of England; his 5 grandchildren, Odessa Allen Tinsley, Oryan Adrian Tinsley, Jonah and Kirestin Harvey, and Tweed Watson Harvey; his sister, Jan Porter of Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Dickie was predeceased by his sisters, Gloria Jean Hardin and Linda Zimmerman.
A visitation will be held 5-7 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A private service of committal will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, 900 S Pine Street, Suite F, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
