Virginia Brannon

June 24, 1935 — January 10, 2022

Dr. Virginia Brannon, 86, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Monday, January 10, 2022 at her daughters’ home. Born May 24, 1935 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Miller and Nannie Mae Cooley Hines and was the wife of the late Volney Robert Brannon.

Virginia was graduate of Spartanburg General School of Nursing, where she earned her LPN, Class of 1969.

As a graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic, Dr. Brannon was a member of the “Pioneer Class” being the first female graduate, Class of 1976 while also earning her degree simultaneously at Limestone College.

In 2019, she retired from Brannon Chiropractic Clinic.

Dr. Brannon was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg and the South Carolina Chiropractic Association.

Survivors include her children, Robert Dale Brannon (Jan) of Simpsonville, SC, Richard Earl Brannon (Allana) of Boiling Springs, SC, Harold Dwain Brannon (Denise) of Heathrow, FL, and Robin Ann Brannon of Boiling Springs, SC; six grandchildren, Shelly Cantrell, Lori Fleury, Jason Brannon, Russell Brannon, Lisa Schrum, Lindsay Santisteban; 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Along with her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by her siblings, Hollan Hines, Bill Hines, Alatha Vassey, Eva J. Lewis, Cornelia Prince, Lillian Bailey, and Miller Hines, Jr.

Visitation will be 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM Friday, January 14, 2022 at First Baptist North Spartanburg, 8740 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29316. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM at the church, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Michael S. Hamlett. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sherman College of Chiropractic to start a student scholarship in her memory, www.sherman.edu/brannon or to P.O. Box 1452, Spartanburg, SC 29304.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers from Heavenly Care Services, and Comfort Keepers of Spartanburg, and most especially to Mary Guffey.
