Shirley Anita Sisk Hart, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 18, 1934, in Converse, SC, she was the wife of the late Bobby Gene Hart and daughter of the late Troy Wiley Sisk and Irene Coats Sisk.
Mrs. Hart attended Spartanburg city and county schools, graduated from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Medical Technology (now Spartanburg Regional) and was employed in the hospital clinical laboratory for 28 years as a Registered Clinical Laboratory Technologist. She was a former member of adjunct faculty at Spartanburg Technical College and worked at York County Hospital (now York General) in Rock Hill, SC, as a Laboratory Technologist. Shirley was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Spartanburg where she was a member of the Blanche Greer United Methodist Women’s Circle, Friendship Sunday School Class, and Singles Sunday Lunch Group. She was also a former coordinator of Older Adult Ministries, a Children’s Sunday School teacher, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. She was also an active member of the former Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and served as the Children’s Ministries Coordinator and Children’s Sunday School teacher. Shirley was a Mobile Meals volunteer, Girl Scout leader, Associate Editor of her high school newspaper and pianist for the high school chorus and glee club.
Surviving are her daughters, Melanie Hart Owen (Michael) of Irmo, SC and Elizabeth “Beth” Hart Stott (Phillip) of Campobello, SC; granddaughters, Hart Michelle Owen Nalbone (Michael) and Alivia Elsan Stott (Justin); a soon to be born great-granddaughter, Carly Ann: and nephews, Kendall, David, Brett, and Nathan (Chelsea) Thompson. Mrs. Hart was predeceased by a sister, Frances Sisk Thompson.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00PM, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29307. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2023, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, 29307. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
