Nelson Gurley

April 6, 1950 — December 28, 2020

Nelson Theodore "Ted" Gurley, 70, of Roebuck, SC died Monday, December 28, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 6, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late James Albert and Mary Moore Gurley. A U.S. Army veteran, "Ted" began his career in the car sales industry and worked alongside Vic Bailey Jr. and Dave Edwards. He then ventured out to begin his journey of self-employment with his son-in-law Darren Mason which led to their success of Pager's Unlimited Inc. and Dee Tee's Quick Stop. After many years of hard work he retired in 2012. He then enjoyed hobbies of cooking and woodworking. Ted was strong in his Christian faith and would always share his testimony everywhere he went. He was a member of Southport Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Frady Gurley; son, Jay Hayes (Amy) of Greer, SC; daughters, Jada Mason (Darren) of Gaffney, SC and Amy Roundtree (Ralph) of Greenville, SC. He has ten grandchildren, Chelsey, Ladybug, Emily, Storm, Addyson, Bailey Cassie, Gavin, Rylin, and Hampton; four great-grandchildren, Leia, Hadley, Lennon, and Blayne, and nephew, Rusty Edwards. He was predeceased by sisters, Brenda Edwards and Pat Lewis. No services are scheduled at this time, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
