Joan "Joanie" Elliott

Joan “Joanie” Elaine Thomason Elliott, 83, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, July 5, 2021 at her home. She was born in Spartanburg, SC on December 19, 1937 to Paul Vernon Thomason and Robena Sawyer Thomason.

A graduate of Fairforest High School, Joan was a retired cafeteria worker at Westview Elementary School. She was a member of the Upstate Shag Club who loved sewing, cooking and the beach.

Survivors include her partner, Ray Bracken; son, Dennis Paul Elliott of Spartanburg, SC; grandson, Michael Elliott of Miami, FL; nieces and nephews, Lynn, Debbie, Ann, Terri, Pam, and Tony, and her best friend of 50 years, Shirley Culbreth. She was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.

The Upstate Shag Club will hold a Memorial Service for Joanie at a later date.
