Jimmie Collings

Jimmie Ann McGee Collings, 90, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 3, 1930 in Anderson, SC      she was the daughter of the late Samuel Augustus McGee and Elizabeth Wyatt McGee, and wife of the late Thomas Albert Collings, Sr. M.D.

A graduate of Agnes Scott College, Mrs. Collings was reared in Starr, SC. She was a master gardener, a master judge for flower shows, was an avid member of Garden Clubs in Spartanburg, Anderson and Greenville, TN and a member of the Hand & Foot Card Club. Mrs. Collings loved cooking for others, going on mission trips, and working with migrant workers. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and Mary Magdalene Sunday School class.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Collings Licata (Steven) of Ridgeway, SC, Thomas A. Collings Jr, (Delanie) of Spartanburg, SC, and Samuel A. Collings of West Virginia; grandchildren, Andrea Licata Cowart (Burke), Robert Thomas Licata, Jennifer Brewton Collings, Holly Collings Coesens (Brian), Catherine Collings Blevins, Rev. Thomas A “Tad” Collings III (Jessica), Meya Collings and Samuel A. Collings, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren and sister, Jennie Lou Miler of Greenville, SC.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Thomas A. Collings III. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Clemson University, Clemson, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Trinity Baptist Church, 7538 NC-50, Benson, NC 27504.
