Harold Lee

Harold Dennis “Dick” Lee, 90, of Pacolet, SC died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at his home. He was born in Pacolet, SC on March 12, 1931 to James Cain Lee Sr. and Etta Gibbs Lee and husband of the late Ann Whitlock Lee.

A U. S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, Mr. Lee was a graduate of Pacolet High School and attended Spartanburg Junior College and Cecil’s Business College. He was a conductor for Norfolk and Southern Railway retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service and was a life member of United Transportation Union. Mr. Lee was a member of Pacolet United Methodist Church where he served as a United Methodist Lay Speaker and Board of Trustees Chairman.

Survivors include his daughter, Denise Lee Sutherland (Robert) of Walnut Grove, SC; special nephew, Jim Lee, wife Gail; special great-nephew, Chris Lee wife, Tracy and son, Kane, special nieces, Jayme Smith husband, Stewart and children Brody and Charlotte, and Serena McCann. Other nieces, Patricia Cole, Diane Lee and Susan Berry and families, and sister-in-law, Betty J. Whitlock and her daughter, Rae and family of Palm Bay, FL. He was predeceased by brothers, J. C. Lee Jr., Allen Leonard Lee, and James M. Lee.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 9, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Chaplain Brian Redding and The Rev. Tommy Hill. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet United Methodist Church, PO Box 427, Pacolet, SC 29372 or Crescent Hospice, 839 Main Street, Suite D, Buffalo, SC 29321.
