Gayle Pryor

Gayle West Pryor, 82, entered into Heavenly rest on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at White Oak Estates. Born March 18, 1940, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Oland Miller West and Pauline Seay West.

She graduated from Fairforest High School where she was crowned Miss Forest Views in 1958. Gayle retired from Spartanburg School District 6 after serving 30 years as secretary at Dawkins Middle School. She was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church where she was active with Midweek and Senior Adults. Gayle dedicated her life to the care of her family. She was known for her delicious cooking, shopping, entertaining, and love of Christmas.

Gayle is predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Twyman Ellis Pryor, who was her true love since the age of 13, and her infant brother Lewis Furman West. Gayle is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Caroline Fleetwood (Jimmie) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie Wood (Case) of Charleston, SC and Cole Garrison of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandsons, Crew, Beau, and Tripp Wood of Charleston, SC; sister, Kathy Ware (Ronnie) of Chesnee, SC; cousin, Patricia Franklin (Sidney) of Boiling Springs, SC.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2023, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, followed by services at 2:00 pm, conducted by Rev. Grover Timms. A private graveside service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, 1430 Confederate Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201, Attn: Mark Gamble.
