Dewey Westbrook

September 20, 1939 — October 4, 2020

Dewey Edward "Ed" Westbrook, 81, of Fairforest, South Carolina, met Jesus on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1939, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina to the late Albert and Frances Williams Westbrook. Raised in the Southern Shops area, Edward lived life to the fullest with great neighborhood friends and their boyhood shenanigans from Southern Shops to Rainbow Lake and all areas in between. Edward graduated in the Class of 1957 of Fairforest High School and afterwards served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Edward grew up a member of Hayne Baptist Church and after meeting the love of his life, he moved his membership to Fairforest Baptist Church where he rededicated his life to Christ and committed his life to serving the Lord as a Deacon and caretaker for over 40 years, teaching Sunday School for the Youth, College and Career and the Pastor's Class. He also served as the Chairman of the Steering Committee and the Architect Committee and had a primary role in the reconstruction and renovation of the present day Fairforest Baptist Church. Edward was a member and Past Master of Fairforest Masonic Lodge #393 and a Board Member of the Piedmont Interstate Fair where he was in charge of the ticket takers and gates. After working for various copier service companies he retired, as a Supervisor, from IKON with 32 years of service. Anyone that knew Edward knew he had many talents and a knack for fixing anything. His love of wood working prompted him to establish Joyce's Cabinet Shop that he ran for over 15 years. His creativity and perfectionism resulted in many flawless treasures that we will cherish for years to come. Left to cherish his fond memories and carry on his legacy are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Brady Westbrook, his daughter Lisa W. LeMaster (Dean) of Inman, Patricia W. Connolly (Artie) of Fairforest. His greatest blessings, his grandchildren, Brat #1 Kendall Edward LeMaster, Brat #2 Madeline Rose Connolly Grubbs (Justin) of Lyman, Brat #3 Kamren Chase LeMaster of Inman and Brat #4 Anna Grace Connolly of Fairforest. A sister, Elaine W. Johnson (Robert) of Spartanburg; two brothers, Richard A. Westbrook of Ellijay, GA and Steven J. Westbrook (Michelle) of Boiling Springs; sister-in-law, Dianne B. Allison, and brother-in-law Ronny E. Brady (Becky). He was blessed with numerous nieces and nephew that he considered to be his own children and by several lifelong friends that have remained true thru the years.
