Betty Carr

Betty Jean Carr, 77, of Cowpens, died Friday, January 8, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center. She was born August 20, 1943, a daughter to the late Azer (Red) and Lillie Mae Linder Staton. She graduated from Cowpens High School in 1963 and worked at Silver's Dime Store for 33 years and Dollar General for 21 years. She was a faithful member of Oakdale Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and held several positions in the past. Betty and her granddaughters, Mallory and Madison, were known for making fried apple pies for the Mighty Moo crewmen every year. She attended the Senior Citizens Club in Cowpens where she loved to go and sing. She also sang at different churches and senior clubs. She is survived by a daughter, Lori Carr Mabry (Wally) of Spartanburg; a son, Charles Kevin Carr (Susan) of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Madison Carr, Mallory Carr and Jennifer Naturale (Anthony); two great-grandchidren, Hayes and Hudson Naturale; sisters, Rene Frady and Angie Inman (Bryon), all of Cowpens; a brother, Sam Staton of Converse; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special furry companion, Little Bit. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles Everett Carr; her parents; sister, Madge S. Million; and brothers, Bobby D. Staton and Roger Dale Staton. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is asked that guests wear masks and observe social distancing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021m, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joel Gardner, the Rev. Dennis Spencer and the Rev. Bryon Inman. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery Street, Cowpens, SC 29330. Family will be at the home, 121 Crystal Drive, Cowpens, SC 29330. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
