Anne Marable

Anne E. Alton Marable, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Fairview Park. Born June 11, 1930 in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Hensey Alton and the widow of William Sibley Marable.

Anne retired from the Spartanburg County Assessors office after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and was a member of The Secular Franciscans. In 2003, she was The SC Catholic Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Parish Council and President of the Women’s Club at St. Paul.

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” S. Marable Jr. (Dianne) of Simpsonville, SC, her grandchildren, David William Marable of Denison, TX, Jon Moss and Lauren Kelle;, her brothers, Roger “Bob” Alton of Virginia Beach, VA, and her daughter in law, Sandra Marable. She was also predeceased by her son, John Raymond Marable, and siblings, Marie Miller, Patricia Cherry, Thomas Alton and William Alton.

A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St. Paul the Apostle Historic Catholic Church, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by The Rev. David Whitman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 290 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
