Willie Henson Jr.

Willie Henson, Jr., 92, of Roebuck, SC, died Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home. Born December 11, 1928 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late William Alexander Henson, Sr. and Zora Donahue Henson and was the husband of the late Lucille Lawings Henson.

Willie was retired after 32 plus years at Delagrave Engraving and Goodyear Tire for 31 years. He was a member of Moore Baptist Church. He was a proud farmer with varied livestock and numerous vegetable gardens. On Sundays he loved to watch NASCAR.

Survivors include his daughter, Patty Groothedde of Spartanburg, SC, his sister, Myrtle Guy of Boiling Springs, SC, two grandchildren, Yvonne Harrison (Darrell) and Chris Groothedde (Heather) and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by five sisters, Pauline Genobles, Ruth M. Buchanan, Ruby Medlin, Vinnie Henson, and Ethel Hughes, and two brothers, Buddy Henson and Bobby Henson.

A Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Alvin Burdette and The Rev. Paul Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
