William Anthony “Tony” Woodward, 58, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Tony was born September 10, 1967, in Spartanburg, a son of Patricia “Pat” Weber Woodward of Spartanburg and the late William Latham Woodward.
Tony was a retired deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office with 22 years of service. Prior to joining the Sheriff's Office, Tony worked for 5 years with the Spartanburg Police Department. After retirement, he worked with the Spartanburg Medical Center Security Department.
He attended The View Church and was a 1985 graduate of Dorman High School. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being a grillmaster. Tony was an avid and passionate fan of the Clemson Tigers!
Along with his mother, Tony is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Jenifer Ashling Woodward; his daughters, Hannah Grace Woodward and Riley Kathryn “Kate” Woodward’ his brother, Gary W. Woodward (Debbie); his mother-in-law, Iris Cohen; his beloved canine companions, Macie and Murphy; and so many extended family members that meant so much to him.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday December 1, 2025, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. A service to celebrate and honor Tony’s life will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at The View Church, 5555 Parris Bridge Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by the Rev. Tyler Kirby and Mr. Russell Lynch. Burial, with honors provided by Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Honors Team, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In honor of Tony’s passion for the Clemson Tigers, guests are asked to dress in Clemson Orange or Purple attire for his service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
