Wendell Macon Woolen entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the age of eighty-seven.
Wendell was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of the late Randolph Macon Woolen and the late Lucille Setzler Woolen. He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother: Belva Woolen and John Woolen.
Wendell was a United States Air Force veteran that served his country honorably as an airmen in the 6214th Support Sq. He was also a recipient of the good conduct medal of honor. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He was a retired pipe fitter. Wendell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his many memories are his wife: Barbara G Smith Woolen; two sons and daughters-in-law: Phillip and Jennifer Woolen, and Charles and Pam Woolen; his grandchildren: Blake Woolen (Sarah), Mindy Scott (Bobby), Savannah Laney, Aaron Woolen (Sarah), and Kylie Woolen; he was blessed with six great grandchildren; his two sisters: Lillyan Hood, Julie Derrick: Also, the mother of his children survives: Maytze Woolen.
A graveside service to honor Wendell’s life will be held at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in the Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery, 2095 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The United Staes Air Force Honor Guards will present honors during the service. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service starting at 2:30 PM.
Wendell’s memories will continue to live in the hearts of everyone that knew and loved him.
The arrangements are entrusted to the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
