Walter Emanuel Tarapchak, 80, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born June 2, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, Walter was the son of the late Andrew Tarapchak and Chrysanthe Simantiras Tarapchak. He had a long and successful career with AT&T, where he worked for many years until his retirement.
Walter was a talented musician with a deep appreciation for music and the arts. He was a member of the Carolina Flute Circle and enjoyed expressing himself through Native American flute music. He was also involved with Bushcraft USA, reflecting his appreciation for traditional skills, craftsmanship, and the outdoors.
A gifted craftsman, Walter was a skilled leatherworker, creating pieces by hand with care and attention to detail. His artistic interests also led him to become a member of the Southern Arts Society, where he shared his creativity and appreciation for the arts with others.
Walter shared over 22 years with his beloved companion, Maxine F. Heard. Their many years together were filled with companionship, shared experiences, and treasured memories.
Walter will be remembered for his creativity, musical spirit, craftsmanship, and the unique interests that brought meaning and enjoyment to his life
Private arrangements are being handled by Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel.
