Walter L. Hagan, age 84, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Walter was the son of the late Orion Hagan and Ann Hagan. A lifelong resident of Spartanburg County, he attended Spartanburg High School and went on to enjoy a long and successful career with Spartanburg Steel, where he faithfully worked for 45 years before his retirement.

Walter was a man of service, faith, and dedication. He proudly served his community as a member of the Croft Rescue Squad for several years and was a faithful deacon at First Baptist North Spartanburg. His commitment to helping others and his unwavering devotion to his church were evident throughout his life.

Walter will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, kind heart, and steadfast love for his family. He cherished the time spent with those he loved and leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, and compassion.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Pat Hagan; three children; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

A private family interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with immediate family members in attendance.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 4158 East Croft Circle, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Though he will be deeply missed, Walter’s family finds comfort in knowing that his life was well lived, his faith was strong, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
