Violet June Banks Farmer

Violet June Banks Farmer, 89, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at White Oak at North Grove. She was born on January 11, 1935, in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Rueben and Lillie Grace Cooper Banks. She was married to the late James “Jim” Carroll Farmer for 62 years. 

 

Violet was a retired registered nurse from Spartanburg General Hospital. She was a great cook and loved to bake. She was an adoring grandmother and enjoyed using her computer to play games and to talk with her friends. Another source of great joy was playing the organ, which she played until her final weeks. 

 

Surviving are her children, Phillip James Farmer (Jackie) of Lyman, Stanley David Farmer (Parmala) of Chesnee, Patti Farmer Taylor of Spartanburg, and Robin Farmer Nichols (Jerry) of Greer; 8 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Violet was predeceased by her brother, Donnie Banks. 

 

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. James Shetley. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
