Thomas Bouchier Armstrong, Jr., 69, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on the cruise ship Carnival Valor on Friday, February 5, 2016. Born November 10, 1946, in Spartanburg, Tom was the son of the late Thomas B. Armstrong, Sr. and Marian Sellers Armstrong. A 1965 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Tom was also a 1970 graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He spent the last 30 years as a pharmacist at Smith's Drugs #2. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. Besides a love of pharmacy, Tom's passion was shagging, our SC State dance. He was a 29 year member and two-time past president of the R&B Shag Club of Spartanburg. Tom was active in the shag world always promoting the dance that he and LeRhea, his wife of 46 years, loved along with hundreds of friends. A devoted husband, father, and brother, Tom is survived by his wife, LeRhea Rollins Armstrong; daughter, Chance; son, Bo; and sister, Libby Armstrong. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and the Rev. Joanne Hull. The family will receive friends in the church Parlor following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
