Tammy Lowe Mathis, 47, of Gaffney, died Thursday, June 11, 2009. Born November 12, 1961, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Betty Lowe and the wife of Randolph "Randy" Alan Mathis. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, she attended Spartanburg Technical College and the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. She was previously employed by the Spartanburg Housing Authority, Piedmont Community Actions, Douglas Management, and was employed in other assisted housing and child development jobs. During her career she was both a Certified Public Housing Manager and a state Certified Property Manager. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Maggie Mathis, a brother, Tommy Lowe, and her childhood guardian, Wanda Chapman, all of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Dianne Williams. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Joe Dempsey.
