Shelia Tillotson Conder

Shelia Tillotson Conder, 70, died peacefully on September 22, 2026, with courage and dignity.

Shelia faced many health challenges, but she met life with remarkable bravery, joy, and compassion. She was quick to smile and laugh, and she made life fun for the people around her.

Shelia spent much of her life on her family’s farm in Canon’s Campground. She loved its animals, especially her cats and the wild turkeys that visited. She also loved ginger ale, Chick-fil-A, brownies, and peanut butter pretzels.

From 1991 until her retirement, Shelia worked at the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg as assistant to the financial director. She loved the Y and the people she worked with there.

Shelia had many true friends. At the drop of a hat, she had someone she could call. Friends, neighbors, and coworkers showed up for her again and again. With help from her friends, she took such good care of the farm. Her family especially thanks Nancy Hardy, Debra Garner, and Karen Edgins, who were like family to Shelia and Robbin. Robbin could not have cared for Shelia through her health challenges without them. The family also thanks Tammy Billings Vinson for her brilliant nursing wisdom and love.

Shelia is predeceased by her parents Herman Wilson Tillotson, Sr. and Linette Tillotson. Shelia is survived by her sisters, Robbin Phillips and Lesley Turner; her brother, Willson Tillotson (Janice); her nieces, Alice Ratterree (Charles) and Alysa Turner; and her nephews, Andy Tillotson (Elisabeth), Trent Turner, and Dennis Turner. She was also loved by her great-niece, Helen Ratterree; her great-nephew, Charlie Ratterree; and her great-great-nieces, Aria Turner and Ellie Tillotson.

She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Trent was especially kind to Shelia in her final months. She was so very proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Shelia loved Robbin’s children, Tyler Phillips and Logan Coleman-Soica (Lucas), and grandchildren, Canon and Hattie, as if they were her own. She was a cherished part of their family. Robbin would like to thank Tom Phillips for making sure Shelia was always able to attend family events in Greenville over the last decade.

Shelia was LOVE. And she was loved.
