Scott Thomas Buchanan, Sr., passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in his hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was born on July 1, 1968, in Spartanburg to his loving parents, Larry Thomas Buchanan and Patricia Buchanan and was raised in Woodruff.
Scott, was a dedicated Consultant in the Engineering of Roads and Bridge. As a perfectionist in his work, and with a deep passion for his profession, he approached every project with meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment. Scott's love for what he did brought immense fulfillment to his life.
A graduate at Woodruff High School, Scott embarked on a journey of knowledge acquisition that truly set him apart. He not only completed his high school education but also pursued excellence in his field through obtaining an impressive set of 16 engineering certifications. Always eager to expand his skillset, Scott actively sought out opportunities for growth and never ceased to be a source of inspiration for those around him.
As much as Scott excelled professionally, he had a remarkable ability to balance work with personal interests. In his free time, he indulged in various activities that brought him joy. A true fan of Clemson Tiger football, Scott passionately supported his favorite team. Another pastime that brought him solace and tranquility was hiking the trails, where he could connect with nature and find solace in its beauty.
While Scott will be remembered for his professional accomplishments and hobbies alike, one of the proudest achievements of his life was serving as a Youth Pastor at Bible Truth Baptist Church. His dedication to guiding and mentoring young minds was awe-inspiring to witness.
Scott leaves behind a legacy cherished by those who knew him best. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Buchanan, son Scott Buchanan, and a sister, Diana "Dee Dee" Schwarzmann, and an extended family of aunts and uncles. His warm presence, wisdom, and loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307, Spartanburg. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, with Reverend David Briggs and Reverend Rick Lunsford officiating.
Scott will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his profession, his love for his favorite football team, and his kind-hearted spirit. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
