Sammy Jerome Harter, 74, of Boiling Springs, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 29, 2023. He was born January 7, 1949 in Inman, SC.
Sammy was a 1967 graduate of Chapman High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan, a member of Inman Lions Club and a founding member and on the Leadership Team of The Rock Church of Inman.
Sammy is survived by his aunt Barbara Harter Rippy of Union; two sister-in-laws; Dana E. Suttles of Arcadia and Sherry S. Carter (David) of Boiling Springs, SC.; two nieces; Teresa Chitwood (Brian) and Joy Chavis (John) of Boiling Springs, SC; one nephew Travis Carter (April); five great nieces; Taylor Henson (Christian), Dru Carter (Austin), Tinsley Seay, Tristyn Seay and Talon Chavis; four great nephews; Tyler Guy (Whitney), Trey Chavis (Ally), Titus Chavis and Daylon Carter; three great great nieces Tate Henson, Calloway Henson, and Zoe Byers; two great great nephews Reid Guy and Oliver Guy.
He is predeceased by his wife, Wanda Suttles Harter, a son, Bryan Paul Harter, his mother, Mary Frances Harter, grandparents, Eugene “Jack” and Ruth Thrift Harter, all of Inman; and uncle Bobby Gene Rippy of Union, SC.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 2:00-2:45 pm at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4081 Hwy 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel, conducted by Pastor David Carter and burial will follow at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
