Ronnie Keith Thompson, 63, passed away on Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was born March 3, 1962, in Spartanburg, a son of the late Raymond and Bonnie Kate Walden Thompson.
Ronnie was a 1981 graduate of Dorman High School. He was a dedicated and respected employee of Mintz Scrap Iron for over 40 years.
A longtime member of Fairforest Baptist Church, he had served as a Deacon, played for the softball team for many years and participated in the men’s golf retreats. He enjoyed skiing (be it water or snow, he loved them both), collecting Hess trucks and coin collecting.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of over 38 years, Teresa Simmons Thompson; sons, Corey Thompson (Brianna) of Woodruff and Ryan Thompson (Hannah) of Pauline; a grandson, Roman Thompson; brother, Danny Thompson (Judy) of Spartanburg; sister, Pamela Bishop of Cowpens; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Melissa Bagwell and Terrie Johnson; and his faithful canine children, Andie and Theo. Ronnie was predeceased by a brother, Michael Thompson; a brother-in-law, Eddie Simmons (Lynn); and a sister-in-law, Barbara Bryan.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-3:45 pm Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Fairforest Baptist Church, 115 Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301. A service to honor and celebrate Ronnie’s life will follow at 4:00 pm, in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton and the Rev. John Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Hospice, 1312 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605; Fairforest Baptist Church, 115 Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
