Ronald Henderson Winstead entered into his Heavenly home on Monday, June 15, 2026, with his family by his side. Ronald was seventy-five years of age.

Ronald was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Gerald Lee Winstead and the late Gladys Pearl Hodges Winstead. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Freddy Winstead.

Ronald was a graduate of Newberry College and had a rewarding career as a teacher and coach at several schools throughout the state, including a long career at Spartanburg High School. His love for children was exemplified in his teaching and coaching efforts. He had a passion for football, and he impacted a lot of young men’s lives over the years. His grandchildren were his life’s biggest joy. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Left to cherish Ronald’s many memories are his wife of 53 years, Cathy Winstead; his son, Jason Paul Winstead (Anna); his daughter, Katie Winstead Colwell (Isaac); and his precious grandchildren, Henry Winstead, Emily Winstead, and Katherine Colwell.

A celebration of life service to honor the life of Ronald Henderson Winstead will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel. 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Reverend Arthur Holt will officiate the service.

Ronald’s memory will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends.
