Obituary

Ronald “Ronnie” Dale Carpenter, 63, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026. Ronnie was born on February 9, 1963, in Morristown, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Willie Odell Carpenter and Ella Jane Spires Carpenter.

Ronnie was a faithful man who loved the Lord deeply and cherished his family. He was especially proud to be known as “Papa Ron” to his beloved grandsons. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke and make people laugh. His quick wit, playful personality, and ability to find humor in everyday moments brought smiles to the faces of those around him. His family and friends will remember not only his kind heart, but also the laughter he shared with them.

Above all, Ronnie loved his family. His late wife, Wanda Jean Carpenter, was not only his beloved wife but also his best friend. The life they shared and the many memories they made together remained especially precious to him.

Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Katie Childers (Ethan) and Christina Black; sisters, Bridgett Oxford and Carolyn Timms (Jamie); grandchildren: Deacon and Bentley Childers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Wanda, Ronnie was preceded in death by his sisters: Shirley Carter and Betty Honeycutt.

Ronnie will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His family remembers all the funny moments, stories, and good times they shared with him.

A Celebration of Life for Ronnie will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with Pastor Landon Rhoden officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
