Ronald Henry Henderson, Sr. (“Skitch”), 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1939, in Converse, SC, to the late Grady Lee Henderson and Elsie Henderson.
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Skitch honorably served on Texas Tower #2. He later retired from Michelin Tire Corporation and also held recent positions with the Spartanburg Herald-Journal and the Spartanburg Recycling Center.
Skitch loved fishing, hunting for treasures at yard sales, and riding his Harley Davidson. A man of strong faith, he was a devoted member of Rua Church of God and in recent years attended Inman Freewill Baptist Church. He also served as Chapter Vice President of the Jabez Riders of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Elisa H. Cothran (Don); his son, Jeffrey Henderson; Jeff Blackwell (Joy); Beverly Brush (Greg); Scott Blackwell (Lynn); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Susan Valle (Alex).
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 27 years, Shirley Henderson; his son, Ronald H. Henderson, Jr.; and other loved ones who welcomed him home.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary McAbee, his loving companion for the past 15 months.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy. 9 N., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, followed by burial in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 SC-9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jeffrey Blackwood and the Rev. Sean Fortner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
