Roger Leon Williams, 69, of Inman, SC, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Roger was born in Spartanburg on July 7, 1956, to Ralph E. Williams and Irene Baker Williams. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ralph E. Williams, Jr.
He completed his education at The Cedar Springs School for the Deaf and Blind in Cedar Springs, SC. Having graduated in 1974, he became proficient in sign language and taught other students and the elderly how to communicate through this method.
Roger found great joy in baking cakes and occasionally cooking meals for his neighbors in the complex. He developed many relationships that were woven into his heart. His green thumb allowed him to plant a beautiful flower garden each Spring and neighbors and visitors would make special visits to admire the color and just to chat with him on his remarkable talent.
The holidays were extremely enjoyable to Roger, as he began decorating early. Neighbors made a special visit to see his beautiful tree and decorations.
Roger is survived by his loving sister and caretaker, Glenda Nix Hames (Jimmy), and his nephews Mark Nix (Kimberly), Chris Nix (Dawn), and Stephen Nix. He is also survived by numerous great nephews and one great niece.
Graveside services will be September 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Reverend Jeff Valentine will officiate the service. Family will receive friends, immediately following the service, to meet with all those that loved and knew Roger.
