Roger Dennis Van Muyden Sr. Roger Dennis Van Muyden Sr., born July 20, 1943, a proud United States Air Force veteran, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the age of eighty-two.
Roger was born in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of the late Leonard Van Muyden and Elizabeth (Anderson) Van Muyden. He was preceded in death by his son, Matt Van Muyden of Okabena, Minnesota, and his brother, Jerry Van Muyden of Henderson, Nevada. Roger honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years, enlisting in October of 1960. He completed basic training in Texas in 1961 and served at multiple duty stations throughout his military career, including Tacoma, Washington; Japan; Korea; Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and Glendale, Arizona. Following his military service, Roger spent thirty-one years working for the railroad, beginning with the Chicago & North Western Railway and later continuing his career with Union Pacific Railroad. He retired as an equipment operator, a role he carried out with pride and reliability. Roger was an avid Minnesota Vikings football fan and enjoyed collecting coins, hunting, and traveling with his daughter. He especially cherished riding four-wheelers with his sons. He will be remembered for his friendly nature, love of conversation, and genuine interest in those around him. Above all, Roger was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
