Roger Hendricks Söderberg, 92, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was born on December 21, 1931, a son of the late O. A. and Edith Williams Söderberg and husband of 58 years to Helen Lawson Söderberg.
He was a graduate of Westminster School, Simsbury, CT and Yale University School of Engineering. He joined Deering Milliken Research in 1960 and rose from trainee to Director of Development of the Specialty Industrial Business of Milliken & Company, retiring in 1997. Most of his career was spent in LaGrange, GA, when he was assigned as Plant Manager of the Valway plant in 1968. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent and loved playing golf, fishing and hunting for most of his life.
Surviving is his wife, Anna Johnson Söderberg, daughter, Karen Lyon (Robert) of Spartanburg; son, Brian Söderberg (Tanya) of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, Ansley Lyon and Robert Lyon. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard W. Söderberg.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Episcopal Church of the Advent conducted by the Rev. Paula Griffin. A reception will follow in the Parish Community Life Center. Burial will follow at a later date in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Pauline.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to the Episcopal Church of the Advent Foundation, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
