Robert Michael Tinsley,81 of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Madison County, North Carolina on August 28, 1942, to the late Mr. Robert W. Tinsley and Mrs. Ida Lee Fox Tinsley. A beloved long hauler trucker who dedicated over 40 plus years to the open road, Robert's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his passions.
During his youth, Robert bravely served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966 as part of the second armored division. His time in the military instilled in him values of duty and honor that he carried with him throughout his life. Beyond his career and military service, Robert found joy in simple pleasures such as reading, fishing, and savoring delicious foods. Robert's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his enduring marriage of over 60 years to his late wife, Mrs. Shirley B. Tinsley. Their love was a testament to dedication, partnership, and unwavering support.
Survivors include his three sons: Timothy Tinsley (Edna Mae), William Tinsley (Andi Lee), and Michael Tinsely; two grandsons; Seth Brantley and Miles Brantley; two granddaughters; Ali Roberts (Matt) and Lacey Brantley (Dan Ererline); a great-granddaughter McKinley Brantley; as well as his brother Keith Tinsley (Brenda) and sister Rosemary Thomas (Lindon). Robert was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley B. Tinsley, as well as his father Robert W. Tinsley and mother Ida Lee Fox Ballard.Friday, March 29, 2024
