Robert Crabb

Robert “Bob” Allen Crabb, 79, of Columbia, SC, died Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Spartanburg, SC. Born August 31, 1942 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Eugene N. and Betty Lou Mechem Crabb.

A retired history teacher at Dentsville High School, Spring Valley High School and Richland High School in Columbia, SC. Bob’s passion was teaching tennis at Richland County Tennis Center at Parklane Road, Columbia, SC. His final hurrah occurred at Hammond School. Together with renowned Columbia tennis coach and best friend, Bern McGuire, they initiated a practice format that was duplicated by many other schools in SC.

Coach McGuire said of Bob, “He was a man of faith and touched many lives in the tennis community. His word was his bond. He was one of the most loyal people I have ever met.”

Services will be privately held.
