With deep sorrow but steadfast faith that we will be together again, we announce that Ricky Blaine Ross – “Rick”, much-loved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2026, at the age of 63. Ricky was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. Ricky was a deeply devoted husband to his wife of 41 years and a wonderful father to his children. He also loved his grand fur babies, who were always excited to visit their “grandpa”.
Ricky was not a man of many words. He showed his love through actions – coming to the rescue to repair household and automobile problems for anyone, especially his children, always buying flowers for his wife, taking his family on beach vacations (Sunset Beach, NC – the family favorite), and going all out on decorating for Christmas because he knew his children and nieces and nephews so enjoyed the decorations. His faith was also steady, quiet, and real. He loved the Lord and his church family. He was a fan of contemporary worship music, Brandon Lake being one of his favorite Christian music artists.
Ricky was a talented wood worker, and his hobby was making beautiful decorative serving and charcuterie boards. He was also a very enthusiastic South Carolina Gamecock and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
Ricky was a member of New Beginnings Church in Pacolet for 20 years, recently serving as Elder. He was faithful to his church and position as Elder, and he prayed daily for his church family.
Ricky was the Production Planner Scheduler for Syensqo, a chemical company in Spartanburg. He had been with Syensqo, formerly Solvay or Rhone-Poulenc, for 38 years. His co-workers relay that he was a valued employee, dedicated, calm, diligent, and easy to talk to.
Ricky was a fighter who would take on any challenge. He fought his recent cancer diagnosis with a quiet strength, grace, and dignity few people possess. His short two and one-half month battle included 2 major surgeries and multiple hospitalizations. The family would like to give a big thank you to the exceptional nurses and support staff at the Spartanburg and Pelham Medical Centers. They gave professional care while showing Ricky and his family love and compassion.
Ricky was born February 5, 1963, in Inman, SC to his father Marvin “Bob” Ross and his mother, the late Georgia King Ross. In addition to his father, Ricky is survived by his wife, Susan Dillard Ross and children, Dustin Ross and wife Anna, Caroline Ross Davis and husband Codi, and his sister, Debra Ross and Brittany Hammett, Caroline’s best friend who is like a daughter. Ricky was the rock and solid foundation of his family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:00 AM at New Beginnings Church, 480 Sunny Acres Road, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
