Richard Franklin Moore, 86, went to be with the Lord from the comfort of his home on Monday, January 19, 2026.
He was born on August 28, 1939, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Myrtle and Walter Moore. Richard graduated from Roebuck High School in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.
On July 22, 1960, he married Jewel L. Moore, and together they shared a lifetime of love as devoted companions and soulmates. Richard was a highly skilled auto mechanic, working for Roebuck Building Supply, Y.C. Ballenger, and later owning and operating Moore’s Garage in Pauline for 32 years.
Richard was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for 65 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School director, a member of the choir and worked on social committee preparing delicious meals for 28 years in the Aiken Hall. His dedication to his church and his Lord was evident throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jewel Moore; his children, Joey Moore and Karen Sarratt (Steve); three grandchildren, Stephanie Shipley (Clay), Scott Sarratt (Brittany), and Shane Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Liam Shipley, Caroline Shipley, Macayla Sarratt, and Maddy Sarratt. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Elders, and his brother, Ralph Moore along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers Bud, Charles, Cecil, Don, and Bill; his sisters Helen and Edith; and his son, Jeff.
The Family will receive friends between 12:30 – 1:45 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Friendship Baptist Church, 830 Friendship Church Road, Pauline, SC 29374. The funeral service to honor Richard’s Life will begin at 2:00 PM following the visitation. Pastor Brian Harris will officiate the service. The burial will follow the service in Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Richard will be especially remembered for his deep love for the Lord and his unwavering devotion to his family.
The arrangements are trusted to Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
