Richard Dalton

Richard Calvin Dalton, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 18, 1935, in Mayo, SC, he was the son of the late John Walter and Lois Blackwood Dalton and husband of the late Norma Jean Felmet Dalton. A lifetime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Mr. Dalton was the owner-operator of Community Barber Shop in Gaffney and a shop behind his home in Cowpens for over 50 years. He was also employed with Carolina Freight. An avid fisherman and hunter, Richard raised Beagle dogs and sold eggs to the community. Survivors include his daughters, Jeneane Parsons (John) and Darlene Dalton Gragg (Bobby), all of Cowpens, SC, and Sherry Paysour (Lee) of the home; grandchildren, Crystal and Shaun Sanford of Boiling Springs, SC, Tina and Paul Carson of Spartanburg, Todd Scruggs and fiancé Samantha Wyatt of Cowpens, Charlene Paysour, Austin Paysour and fiancé Kayla Blackwell of the home; great-grandson, Dillinger Carson; great-granddaughter, Aubree Paysour; and brother, Dean Dalton of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Richard Calvin Dalton Jr. Special thanks is expressed to Sherry and her husband Lee Paysour for the nine years they cared for her father. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, February 19, 2016, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Kirby Jr. and the Rev. Bryan Yelton. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 250 Mt. Olive Rd., Cowpens, SC 29330.
