Rebecca Carver Nelson, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 24, 2018, at The Waterford at Dillon Pointe. Born April 28, 1924, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late W. D. Carver, Sr. and Bettie Cooper Carver and widow of Robert Hunter Nelson. She was a lifelong member of Arcadia United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sister, Mary Elizabeth Brown of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Devon Hoppes (Keith) of Boiling Springs, SC, Lanise Shortell of Atlanta, GA, and Rebecca Danielle Nelson of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, John B. Traxler II (Rachel), Katherine H. Traxler (Smith Ratterree), Patrick Kyle Traxler (Zale), Adam B. Shortell, and Sara Spradlin (Jeff); and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Donald Reid Nelson. Special thanks is expressed to the staff of Dillon Pointe for their excellent care. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, December 28, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. David Ervin and The Rev. James Carter. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
