Raymond Edward Riffenburg, Jr.

Raymond Edward Riffenburg, Jr., 92, of Spartanburg, passed away on Sunday evening, May 10, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born on March 4, 1934, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Mona Willett Riffenburg and Raymond Edward Riffenburg, Sr. Raymond was married to the late Rita Amelia Edelston Riffenburg.

Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from IBM after a career spanning over 38 years. He formerly attended Congregation B’nai Israel. He was an avid reader, with science fiction being his favorite genre. He also enjoyed reading about electronics and engineering.

Surviving is his son, Michael A. Riffenburg (Janetta) of Moore, SC; his 5 grandsons, Jason Riffenburg (Danielle) of Tampa, FL, Eric Riffenburg (Kelly) of Columbia, SC, Scott Riffenburg (Juliet) of Phoenix, AZ, Sean Riffenburg (Ashlee) of Phoenix, AZ, and Paul Casey Riffenburg (Kallie) of Phoenix, AZ; 16 great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Karen Riffenburg Butler of Saratoga Springs, UT.

Along with his wife and parents, Raymond was predeceased by a son, Paul Edward Riffenburg; a brother, Allen Riffenburg; and a sister, Maxine Guiel.
