Ray Mcentire

Ray Gibson McEntire, 87, of Boiling Springs, SC died Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center-Mary Black Campus. Born October 4, 1934 in Green Creek Community of Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late George Dargan and Mattie Sue Edwards McEntire.

Ray was retired from Butte Knitting Mills after many years of service as a supervisor. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Jackie Kelly McEntire, his daughters, Carmen McEntire Thomas (Mike) of Inman, SC and Sharee Painter (Michael) of Moore, SC, his granddaughter, Karley Rhae Bailey (Steven) of Cowpens, SC, his grandson, Seth Roach of Clifton, SC, three grandsons, Landon Thomas, Parker Thomas and Brayden Thomas, all of Pittsboro, NC, his three bonus grandchildren Branden Painter of Moore, SC, Christianna Painter of Easley, SC, and Alexis Byrum (Ryan) of Pickens, SC, three great great-children, Peyton Bailey, Aaron Bailey, and Kinleigh Bailey, two bonus great grandchildren, Aubrey Painter of Easley, SC and Baileigh Rae Byrum of Pickens, SC, his sisters, Gena Moss (Don) of Boiling Springs, SC, Sue Rosier of Augusta, GA, and Linda Gibson of Boiling Springs, SC. Along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Hoyt McEntire, Toby McEntire, William Waysell McEntire, and Wink McEntire, and sister, Doris Tisdale.

Visitation will be 12:45 – 1:45 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church, 980 Bishop Road, Inman, SC 29349. A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, conducted by Pastor David Duncan. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
