Ralph Leonard Smith, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at his home. Born October 30, 1928, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Leonard and Alma Vaughn Smith. A U. S. Naval Reserve and active U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Smith was retired from the Central Intelligence Agency and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Nancy Carol Keller Smith; sister-in-law, Ruth Tweed; nieces and nephews, William Watson, Amanda Mashburn, Donald Mashburn, Patti Mashburn, Andrea Keller, and Michelle Keller Hoffman; and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Helen Smith Watson; and niece, Laura Watson. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith. Entombment, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
