Rachel Greer Jones of Spartanburg, South Carolina entered into rest at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Rachel was the daughter of the late William Alton Greer and Mary Genell Condrey Greer.
Rachel was raised in Spartanburg, and in 1970 married the love of her life, William B. “Bob” Jones, Jr. and together they built their life in Columbia, SC where Rachel dedicated her career to Baptist Hospital’s Administration department. Rachel was an adoring wife, a fun and loving stepmother, and a devoted aunt who was always present for family gatherings and special moments. She enjoyed travel with the Baptist Hospital “Prime Time” club and cherished annual Myrtle Beach trips where she and Bob would reunite with friends from the across the country and Canada. After retirement Rachel returned home to Spartanburg where she spent time with her family, made dear new friends, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, attended her beloved childhood Green Street Baptist Church and in recent years found new friendships and fellowship at First Baptist Church Spartanburg.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years William B. “Bob” Jones, Jr., her sisters Martha Greer, Rebecca Bledsoe, Mary Pearman, and her brothers Raymond, Robert, Jimmy and Glenn Greer.
Rachel leaves behind her stepson William B. Jones, III, daughter-in-law Kendal, and her very special nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 680 Nazareth Church Road, Moore, SC 29369 and conducted by Rev. Brian Redding. The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 PM.
In remembrance of Rachel’s life, the family asks that charitable donations be made to The Bridge at Green Street, 317 Green Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Mobile Meals P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. Flowers in yellow, white and green are gratefully accepted, yellow was Rachel’s favorite color.
The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
