Catherine Promethea "Mickey" Bailey, 86, of 151 Brown Road, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 29, 1922, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Gresham Henderson and Irene Crawley Henderson Ezell and the loving wife of 49 years to the late Richard Robert Bailey, Jr. A graduate of Pacolet High School, she was formerly employed with Glendale Mills and then as an attendant and bus driver for the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mary Kate Morgan Sunday School Class, the WMU, and chairperson of the Golden Agers. She was also a member of the Glendale Chapter of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Joyce Plemmons of Arcanan, OH; Elizabeth Ann Brown and her husband Robert E. of Spartanburg, and Martha Jane Smith and her husband William E. of Stanley, NC; a sister, Azadia Martin of Rutherfordton, NC; a brother, Billy Gresham Henderson of Varnville, SC; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Clinton Daniel Henderson; and a son-in-law, Gerald Edward Plemmons. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Eastside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Mike Royal and the Rev. Gerald Burnett. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Her great-grandsons, Jacob Brown, Matthew Brown, Robert Smith, Trey Brown, Aaron Smith, Ryan Cromer, Andrew Cromer, Cody Brown, and Alex Cromer will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church Life Fund, 1850 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her daughter, Ann Brown, 190 Brown Road, Spartanburg.
