Peggy Banks

Peggy Jean Nicholls Banks, 91, of Duncan, SC, passed away on Monday morning, November 10, 2025, at White Oak at North Grove. Peggy was born April 22, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, the daughter of the late Grayce Powers Nicholls and Robert Palmer Nicholls. She was married to the late Edgar H. Banks for over 59 years.

Peggy was a member of River Hills Baptist Church. She retired from Benson Nissan and attended Cecil’s Business College.

Peggy is survived by her children, Lynn Banks Wofford of Moore, SC and William Edgar Banks of Duncan, SC; her grandchildren, Victoria Woodie (Derek), Rebecca Rollins (Chad), Caleb Wofford (Hannah), Joshua Wofford (Catherine) and Benjamin Wofford (Allison); her great-grandchildren, Keira Woodie, Summer Woodie, Skylar Woodie, Eli Rollins, Lucy Wofford, Grace Wofford, Roman Wofford, Camden Wofford, Declan Wofford, Emma Wofford, Judah Wofford and Claire Wofford; and a brother, Robert P. “Bob” Nicholls. Along with her parents and her husband, Peggy was predeceased by a great-grandson, Noah Woodie.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-12:45 pm Thursday, November 13, 2025, at River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Kent Smith. The burial will be in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 680 Nazareth Church Road, Moore, SC 29369.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Hills Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
