Patricia Huggins Cassidy passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2025 at the age of 85, surrounded by her beloved family.
Known as Pat to her family and friends, she was born on July 13, 1940, in Charleston, S.C., to the late Marine Huggins of Patrick, S.C., and Edna Tisdale Huggins of Sumter, S.C. Pat spent her formative years in South Carolina and was a proud graduate of Cheraw High School.
Pat shared fifty-six beautiful years of marriage with her late husband, Harold Walker Cassidy, and together, they built a life rooted in love and devotion. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, always putting others before herself and offering unconditional love and wisdom to those fortunate enough to know her.
Pat dedicated much of her life to a successful career in banking, where she left a lasting mark through her leadership and integrity. A graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School (SCBS), Pat was an active member of Credit Professional International (CPI), earning the distinguished honor of Credit Professional of the Year at the local, state, and district levels. After 23 years of dedicated banking service, she retired as an Assistant Vice President with First Citizens Bank, leaving a legacy of excellence and mentorship.
Faith was the cornerstone of Pat’s life. She was a member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church, where she found joy and purpose in Joe White’s Sunday School class and as a part of the Bereavement Serving Committee. Her compassionate heart led her to volunteer with the Child Evangelism Fellowship, where she touched the lives of countless children at Spartanburg’s Cleveland Academy while sharing God’s love and grace.
Pat’s love for life was boundless. Whether traveling across the country in the family motor home, enjoying a beachside retreat, or delighting in a game of Canasta – a cherished tradition passed down from her mother – she embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy. She was never happier than when she was with her family, and she often said her most treasured role was that of “Nana.”
Pat is survived by her son, Jeff Cassidy (Darleen) of Inman, S.C., and her grandchildren, Meredith Hardwicke (Doug Jensen) of Spartanburg, S.C., Zac Cassidy (Morgan) of Chesnee, S.C., and Megan Cassidy (Nick DeChalk) of Inman, S.C.
In addition to her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Cassidy Minor (Lonnie).
The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
A memorial service honoring Pat’s life will be held at 11:30 AM, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel. Service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Shackelford. Burial will be held privately for the family.
Pat’s kindness, compassion, unwavering strength, and radiant spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Though she has left our sight, the love she shared and the lives she touched remain.
The family thanks the special nurses and staff from Spartanburg Regional Hospice team.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties in her memory.
