Ned Carroll Threatt, 77, of Cowpens, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC. Ned was born on July 17, 1946, in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late James Luther Threatt, Jr. and Stella Marie Simms Threatt.
Ned was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where he was a very welcoming leader, a Deacon Emeritus, and was a member of the Circle of Friends. He was a collector of classic cars and vintage collectibles. He was a true Chevy enthusiast, with the 1955 Chevy being his favorite. Ned was a former member of the Cannons Ruritan Club.
A graduate of Cowpens High School, Ned served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a longtime estimator in the industrial insulation industry and later was a project manager with Chapman Concrete.
Ned is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Bridges Threatt; his daughter, Kim Ridings (David) of Cowpens; his sons, Jeff Threatt (Tammy) of Cowpens, and Josh Threatt (Love) of Boiling Springs, SC; 8 grandchildren: 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Gosnell of Spartanburg and Judy Holifield of Wellford; and many loving nieces and nephews. Ned was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Easler and Joan Sherman.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:15 pm Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Crossroads Baptist Church, 130 Conway Black Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary, conducted by Pastor Rich Lancaster, the Rev. Dr. Michael Bradley, and Mr. Josh Threatt. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 293074.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, 130 Conway Black Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
