Nancy Scoggins Floyd, 89, of Spartanburg, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. She was born in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Bates Lupo Scoggins, Sr. and Frances Earle Scoggins. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Rev. W. Harvey Floyd, Jr.
Nancy was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, HF Chreitzberg Sunday School Class and the Loyalty Sunday School Class. She graduated from Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg Junior College with an AA Degree, and Converse College with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, and was a teacher at Spartanburg High School and Lancaster High School for 39 years.
Survivors include stepchildren, Linda F. Blackwell (C.Q.), Donna F. Saba (Joe), William H. Floyd, III (Ellen) and Margaret F. Smith (Scott); her step-grandchildren, Alex Floyd, Brian Saba, Joshua Smith, Kristen Blackwell Gabai, Matthew Floyd, Melissa Blackwell, Nicholas Smith, Rachel Floyd, Rebecca Blackwell, William Saba; two great grandchildren, Ezra Gabai and Letti L. Smith; her brothers, Bates L. Scoggins, Jr., (Pat) and Carol E. Scoggins; nieces and nephews, Susan Jolly, Stephen Scoggins, and Lynn Gilliland.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her nephew David Scoggins.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Brad Gray and the Rev. Megan Gray. Visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
