Nancy Bow Bane

Nancy Bow Bane was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on August 12, 1934. She passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John Dixon Bane, in 2015; her parents, Clarence and Marie Primm Bow; and her sister, Jean Blair and brother, Ted Bow.

She is survived by her 5 children, Bob Bane (Rene), Susan Bane Tuttle (David), Judy Moss (Gary), Joyce Bane, and Tom Bane (Cindy); as well as her sister, Susan Lawrence (Michael). She adored her 10 grandchildren: Pallas Bane and Scott Schroth, Tucker Bane (Bob); Bryant Hastie, Lauren Tuttle, Lesley Tuttle (Susan); Allie and Kyle Yongue, Scott and Mary Moss (Judy); Zach and Meghan Bane, Kara Bane, and Kristen Bane (Tom). She also enjoyed chasing and cuddling with her two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Ella Yongue (Allie). She lived independently in her home of 56 years, along with her loving cocker spaniel, Millie.

She inspired many students in her 30-year career as a chemistry teacher at Spartanburg High School and continued to tutor students after her retirement. In her time teaching, she earned many prestigious awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. She was an active member of St. Paul Methodist Church for 56 years. She dedicated time to serving on multiple church committees and various community programs, including the Bethlehem Center and Mobile Meals.

A service to honor the life of Nancy will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 9, 2025, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Megan Gray. The family will greet friends following the memorial service in Poston Hall.
