Monica Corbin Kennedy, 47, passed away on the early hours of Friday morning, May 8, 2026. Monica was born on September 9, 1978, in Spartanburg, SC. She was owner and operator of Knick Knacks by Monica and was a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church.
Monica was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, attended the University of South Carolina, and received her Associates degree from Spartanburg Community College.
Monica has a huge heart and she enjoyed helping others and bringing joy to their lives. She loved spending time with her family. Reading a good book, listening to her favorite music, concerts and comedy, and the beach were other sources of happiness and joy.
Surviving is her husband of 12 years, Kevin Joseph Kennedy; her son, Corbin Bradley of Spartanburg; her daughter, Olivia Berry of Charleston, SC; her parents, Richard E. and Karon Thomson Corbin of Spartanburg; her grandmother, Nenita Thomson of Spartanburg; her aunt, Sharon MacDonald (Harry) of Spartanburg; her uncle, Olin Daniel Thomson, Jr. (Margaret) of Charlotte, NC; cousins, Lauren and Maris Thomson; a great-aunt, Frances Wheeler Johnson; and her canine best friend, Peanut. Monica is also survived by her mother-in-law, Joan Watson Kennedy of Spartanburg; her brother-in-law, Dennis Patrick Kennedy, Sr. (Margie) of Spartanburg; her sisters-in-law, Sharon McFalls of Spartanburg and Barbara Streeter (Ed) of Conway, SC; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Monica was predeceased by her grandfather, Olin Daniel Thomson, Sr.; her father-in-law, Bradley James Kennedy, Sr.; and brothers-in-law, Bradley James Kennedy, Jr., and David McFalls.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
A service to honor God and celebrate Monica’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Skylyn United Methodist Church, 1415 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Skipper Brock.
