MIRTH MYRTLE BOLTON

October 4, 1928 – September 3, 2026

Mirth Myrtle Bolton passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the age of 97. She passed away just one month short of her 98th birthday. Born in South Africa, Mirth was the beloved wife of the late Reverand Ed Bolton, to whom she was married for nearly 70 years until his call to heaven in 2020. This precious lady was mother to Karyn (Don) Wilton of Spartanburg and Linda Lawson of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the cherished grandmother (Nana) to Rob, Greg, Shelley, Lauren and Glenn, and great grandmother to ten great grandchildren. Mirth spent her entire life loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ alongside her pastor husband in South Africa and America. Together they raised their daughters, served local Baptist churches and the Leprosy Mission of Africa. Her life was marked by her beautiful homes, wonderful meals and selfless care for all those she cared for over the years. The Lord Jesus Christ and her family meant everything to her.

The family will celebrate her life at a graveside service at Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC at 12 noon, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The service will be conducted by her son-in-law, Dr. Don Wilton and her grandsons Dr. Rob Wilton and Dr. Greg Wilton; with a special word from England from her favorite granddaughter, Shelley Ann Wijers.

In memory of Mirth, contributions may be made to the “sharing of God’s truth in our searching world” through Donwiltonministries.com or Alight Ministry – a ministry of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
